Salsa Spearfish 2 Frameset

Spearfish is our ultra-endurance racing and riding machine, perfect for 100-milers, 24-hour races, and all-day singletrack sessions.

Aimed at pedaling and suspension efficiency, Spearfish offers stable, balanced handling that really shines toward the end of a long race or ride, when the rider is most tired.

Spearfish 2 offers 80mm of rear wheel travel through a RockShox Monarch RT shock and is designed for use with a 100mm travel front fork.

The EV6 aluminum frame uses our pivot-minimizing suspension design to keep the rear end tight and tracking well. Removing the rear pivot also reduces chassis weight, and reduces complexity and maintenance.

We named this frame after the town of Spearfish, South Dakota, home to the Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Club, the Dakota 5-O race, and hundreds of miles of killer singletrack trails.

Spearfish. Charge your lights because tonight’s ride will be a long one.

  • Spearfish - Endurance Geometry
Designed for all-day XC riding or racing. Stable and balanced handling. Aimed at efficient power transfer and rear suspension performance. The bike to ride for ultra-endurance riding and racing on singletrack
  • 80mm Rear Wheel Travel
Combined with 29er wheels and our Endurance Geometry, the Spearfish is goes further and faster with less
  • 100mm Fork Compatible
Frame geometry and handling based on an average 100mm 29er suspension fork
  • Pivot Minimizing Suspension
An 80mm rear travel version of our link-actuated single pivot design. The Spearfish features our simplified one-piece rear triangle with shaped stays and a shared pivot link design that reduces pivot points and hardware. This creates a lighter and stiffer rear end with fewer wear and maintainance points
  • Shaped Seatstays
Used in favor of a rear pivot on the 1-piece rear triangle. A rear dropout pivot (if present) would only rotate 1-degree during full suspension compression. We eliminate this pivot point and instead transform the 1-degree of rotation into a slight 5.2mm deflection of the seat stays tubes. The seatstays are shaped and sized appropriately to safely handle this small amount of deflection far beyond the lifespan of the frame. The result is a lightweight, one-piece rear triangle with a single pair of bearings at the main pivot
  • Extruded, CNC'd Shared-Pivot Link
Short and compact, the dog-bone shaped link feartures a shared pivot where the shock and seatstays meet the link. This removes a shock pin from the system and keeps the link small and light
  • RockShox Monarch RT Rear Shock
Custom-specified tuning for Spearfish, Adjustable Rebound, Adjustable Threshold
  • EV6 Extrolite Heat-Treated Aluminum Tubeset
A mix of hydroformed and shaped tubing in a proprietary 6000-series alloy with a custom heat treatment creates a super light aluminum frame with excellent stiffness and durability
  • Tapered Headtube
Allows use of tapered forks or standard 1-1/8" forks. Combining the tapered headtube with the large downtube greatly increases the front end stiffness and strength of the frame without adding significant weight
  • Hydroformed Toptube and Downtube
Hydroformed for optimal front triangle stiffness in conjunction with tapered headtube
  • Forged Frame Fittings
Forged fittings throughout the rear triangle, combined with burly chainstays and large oversized main pivot create a rear end that is extremely stiff for positive tracking and reduced wear
  • PressFit 30 Bottom Bracket Shell
Increased stiffness with a total sytem weight savings. Compatible with both BB30 and 24mm spindle cranks via adaptors
  • Serviceable Bearings
Standard bearing sizes. Removable with standard bearing installation/removal tools
