IcaMax reigns supreme on the Monterrazas Bike Challenge
Congratulations to Team MaXimo powered by YKKbikes.com rider - Ana Patricia Maximo (IcaMaX) winning 2nd Place for the Women's Open on the Monterazzas MTB Challenge & winning 1st Place for the Women's Open on the Monterazzas Road Bike Challenge.
She was the youngest female rider in the competition at 15 years old (& the Toughest). At gun start, she came out last but slowly inched her way into 2nd position. Spending more time in road cycling than mtb, she was not used in the sudden burst of acceleration during gun starts evident in mtb races. It was a see-saw battle for 2nd place position until the other rider chasing her closely developed mechanical trouble. The terrain was muddy (see attached pic) that dirt got stuck into the moving parts of the bike and the other rider has to stop to fix it. That made Ica broke away from the field and into a podium finish.
On the next day, she swept all competitors with finesse for an easy win for the 5.2 KM road race.
